Latest Update from 6th Class June 2010
The following are some of the themes we are working on in 6th Class this month.
SESE;
In Geography, we are working on Trade and Development.
In History, we are studying the History of Travel and Transport.
In Science, we are looking at the eye and photosynthesis in plants.
SPHE;
For the next 2 weeks, we are finishing the Stay Safe programme. This programme encompasses 5 lessons (the first three were completed in May);
Feeling safe and unsafe
Bullying
Touches
Secrets & Telling
Strangers
These lessons will be taught through discussion and drama.
RSE;
We have completed our two sessions on Relationships and Sexuality. Thank you to all parents who took time out of their busy lives to come to the sessions. I hope they provide a useful platform for you to further engage your son/daughter in genuine discussion of their changing bodies and emotions. Thank you also to the students who fully co-operated with the tutor, Cathal, and behaved so well given the delicate nature of all that was being presented to them.
Gaeilge;
The theme for this month is An Aimsir (weather). We are also revising our verbs and consolidating our ability to use these verbs in sentences.
Maths;
We are studying capacity at the moment.
Class Tour;
We have booked the 24th and 25th of June in Petersburg Adventure Centre. We will have a day and a half incorporating three different activities. The balance of the cost is due to be paid by Friday the 11th June.
Class Graduation;
Please mark Monday the 28th of June in your diaries as our Graduation evening for our 6th class students.
